The National Examinations Board has decided to conduct Grade XII exams across the country from 8 am, Baishakh 21 (May 4).

In a public notice dated April 22, the NEB apologized to students and guardians for the inconveniences caused due to the postponement of the exams originally scheduled to begin from April 24.

The notice states that the revised exam routine will be published on its website (https://neb.gov.np) and the state-owned Gorkhapatra daily.
In a rare move, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had directed the authorities to postpone the exams in the wake of an adverse situation resulting from non-cooperation on the part of protesting teachers vis-a-vis all academic activities like the conduct of exams and the school enrollment campaign for the new academic year along with the resignation of Minister for Education Bidhya Bhandari.

Earlier in the day (on April 22), the NEB had decided to conduct exams on schedule, only to issue a postponement notice later, creating confusion among students.

It should be noted that teachers of community schools from across the country have been staging protests in the federal capital daily for more than three weeks to press the government to enact a long-pending School Education Bill by incorporating their demands mentioned in agreements reached with the government.

If non-cooperation on the part of teachers continues, it will still not be easy for relevant authorities to conduct the exams from May 4.
