Kathmandu’s minimum temperature was 9.8 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

On Saturday, the early morning temperature was 9.7 degrees Celsius. The official minimum temperature is recorded at 8:45 am each day. By that time, the temperature may fall slightly or stay close to the earlier reading.

The minimum temperature was 9.5 degrees Celsius on Friday and 8.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley reached 22.6 degrees Celsius. Today, it is expected to stay between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists say minimum temperatures usually rise when the weather changes and the sky is cloudy at night. Clear skies at night usually make temperatures drop. During the day, temperatures stay lower if it is cloudy and rise when the sky is clear and sunny.

Although temperatures change from day to day, experts say the overall temperature is slowly increasing as winter comes to an end.

The Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country. The lowest temperature in 24 hours is called the minimum, and the highest is called the maximum.

The minimum temperature is officially recorded at 8:45 am, and the maximum at 5:45 pm. The minimum shows night and early morning weather conditions, while the maximum shows daytime conditions.
