A blaze erupted at Fairmont The Palm after Iran carried out regional strikes in response to US-Israel military action. UAE authorities said several people were injured in incidents in Dubai, including minor damage at Dubai International Airport.
Missiles and drones were also intercepted in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan, countries that host US military bases. In Qatar, air defences blocked projectiles aimed at Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US base in the region.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said the attacks targeted US assets in retaliation for earlier strikes announced by US President Donald Trump.
The escalating exchanges have raised fears of a wider Middle East conflict.
