On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, President Ram Chandra Paudel urged everyone to adopt environment-friendly lifestyles and take part in activities that help protect nature.
In his message, the President said that development and environmental protection should go hand in hand. He called on all stakeholders to promote nature-friendly practices and support efforts to improve the environment.
He stressed that using clean energy, planting trees, protecting natural resources, and strengthening climate adaptation can help ensure a safe and green future for coming generations.
President Paudel said climate change, pollution, and the overuse of natural resources have become major global challenges. He noted that the effects of climate change are already visible today and are no longer just a future concern.
Highlighting Nepal’s situation, he pointed to melting glaciers, irregular rainfall, floods, landslides, and ecological imbalance as clear signs of climate change.
The President said clean air, safe water, green forests, and biodiversity are essential for human life and that protecting them is everyone’s responsibility.
He expressed hope that World Environment Day would encourage greater public awareness, cooperation, and active participation in environmental protection, green development, and climate action.
World Environment Day is observed every year on June 5 following a call by the United Nations. This year’s theme is “The Basis for a Prosperous Future: Climate- and Nature-Friendly Development.”
