Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on protesting teachers to stop their movement and return to schools, saying the government is ready to hold talks and address all demands that are well within the nation's capacity.

Speaking at the 11th National Conference of the Nepal Progressive Professors Association in Kirtipur, he said the current government believes in democracy, not oppression, and is committed to protecting the teachers' rights and addressing their valid concerns.
He requested teachers to help in the school enrollment campaign and to mark the SEE (Secondary Education Examination) answer sheets. “Please go back to school, support the students and help improve education,” he said. Oli also mentioned that the School Education Bill is under discussion in the Parliament, so there’s no need to be on the streets.
He added that protests harm students and parents, and don’t really benefit the teachers. Oli also said this is not the right time to protest, as some forces are trying to create instability in the country.
As the chief of the CPN-UML, he asked professors to be active against negative, extreme and regressive ideas. He urged them to speak and write in support of democracy, progress and good education.
Talking about “Mission 2084,” Oli said it is a plan to fight against chaos and take the country toward development. He said, “Let’s focus on building a healthy, educated and skilled society.”
He reminded everyone that access to quality education should be a priority, and professors should think about how knowledge is gained and shared. He also encouraged the professors’ association to play an important role in improving higher education in the future.
