Delegates at the CPN-UML General Convention are casting votes using 80 machines, though each ballot reportedly takes up to 30 minutes.
Dr. Kunsang Lama, Secretary of the Central Election Commission, said voting is expected to end by 10 pm, with counting beginning around midnight.
The election will select leaders for the 301-member Central Committee, including chairperson, vice-chairpersons, general secretary, deputy general secretaries, and secretaries. About 650 candidates are contesting from two panels led by KP Sharma Oli and Ishwor Pokharel.
