Voting has officially started at the 11th general convention of the CPN-UML at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.
General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said the voting was supposed to begin on Tuesday evening, but it was postponed after talks between presidential candidates KP Sharma Oli and Ishwor Pokharel. The voting had already been delayed several times earlier, even though it was first planned for Tuesday afternoon.
Electronic voting machines are being used in the election. There are 2,263 delegates taking part in the convention, and technicians say it may take about 30 minutes for each delegate to vote.
