Koirala Meets Deuba Over Party Membership Problem

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala met party president Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday. They discussed problems related to the distribution of active membership forms and recent disciplinary actions within the party.

Dr. Koirala, along with central member Dr. Minendra Rijal, said that the party had sent active membership forms to districts without serial numbers. He explained that this mistake has caused confusion and problems across the country.

Koirala asked President Deuba to immediately recall the unnumbered forms and issue new, properly numbered ones. He said the party’s general convention process cannot move forward using incomplete and unclear forms.

He also spoke about disciplinary actions recommended by the party’s central disciplinary committee. Koirala said all pending disciplinary actions should be withdrawn. He added that the party should focus on preparing for the upcoming general convention and the next national elections. According to him, taking action over alliances made during the 2022 elections is not appropriate at this time.

Party sources said President Deuba told Koirala that he would study the issues carefully and make decisions after further discussion.
