Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed his hope that Fagu Purnima (Holi), one of Nepal’s biggest festivals, will help strengthen unity and harmony in society.
In a message shared on the occasion of Holi, the President wished happiness, peace, and prosperity to all Nepalis living in Nepal and abroad.
He said he believes the festival will encourage people to remove social problems, bad practices, and negative behaviors, while protecting and promoting Nepal’s original culture and traditions.
President Paudel explained that Holi represents the victory of truth over lies, justice over injustice, good over evil, and right over wrong. He said the festival teaches people to forget past conflicts, build goodwill, and celebrate together with family and friends by applying colors with love and joy.
Known as the festival of colors, Holi marks the arrival of spring and is celebrated across the country with great excitement. The celebration begins with the raising of a ceremonial pole decorated with colorful cloth and ends with its burning on the night of the full moon.
He also said that just as Holi is full of different colors, Nepali society is rich in ethnic, language, and cultural diversity. He added that unity in this diversity is the true identity and beauty of the nation.
