Supreme Court Issues ‘Show Cause’ Notice on NC Plea Against HoR Dissolution

The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a ‘show cause’ order in response to a writ filed by the Nepali Congress challenging the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Filed on Mangsir 23 by outgoing Chief Spokesperson Shyamkumar Ghimire and others, the petition lists the President’s Office, Chief Justice Sushila Karki, the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office, the Election Commission, and the Speaker of the House as respondents.

The party contends that the parliament was unconstitutionally dissolved on the recommendation of an unauthorized person and has demanded the immediate reinstatement of the House.
