The stock market showed a small improvement on Wednesday. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index went up by 5.70 points and closed at 2,625.70 points.
Trading activity was also better than the previous day. The total value of shares traded reached Rs 4.05 billion, which is higher than Tuesday’s turnover of Rs 3.44 billion.
Out of all listed companies, share prices of 143 companies increased, while 104 companies saw their prices fall and 11 companies remained unchanged. Among all sectors, the finance group performed the best, recording a gain of 1.75 percent.
Several other sectors also moved up. Banking, development banks, hydropower, investment, life insurance, manufacturing and processing, microfinance, and other sectors all ended the day with modest gains.
On the other hand, some sectors declined. The trading group went down by 0.27 percent, non-life insurance fell by 0.36 percent, and the hotel and tourism sector dropped by 0.37 percent.
