Suhang Nembang, a lawmaker from Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), has said that constitutional amendment should not be pursued merely for the sake of revision, but must aim to strengthen the rights of the people and move the country toward progress.

Speaking during Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, he stated that the amendment process should move forward with the objective of safeguarding the rights already secured by citizens and guiding the nation toward further development.

He said, “Constitutional amendment should not be undertaken simply for the sake of amendment. It must be based on protecting the rights people have gained and should serve the cause of progress—not regression.”

Nembang also emphasized that the Constitution is not merely a collection of written words, but a document shaped by the blood and sweat of the Nepali people and built on shared national consensus.

“The Constitution is not just a collection of words. It is a document of shared agreement written with blood and sweat. It is also a vital link that binds national unity and a common psychological spirit,” he said.
