Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli reached Bangkok on Tuesday evening for participating in bilateral engagements with his Thai counterpart Paetongtarn Shinawatra and attending the sixth BIMSTEC Summit.

Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister for Culture and Sports Sorawong Thienthong, Nepal’s Ambassador to Thailand Dhan Bahadur Oli and Thailand’s Ambassador to Nepal Suwapong Sirisorn received the prime minister upon his arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport with a sizable team.

During the visit, which follows an invite from Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, PM Oli will hold talks with PM Shinawatra, apart from participating in the sixth BIMSTEC summit and holding sideline meetings with leaders of other BIMSETC member-states, including his Indian PM Narendra Modi.

With Thailand, Nepal will sign eight memorandums of understanding (MoUs)—two on culture and tourism at the prime ministerial level and six between non-government sectors of the two countries—on April 2. Later in the day, the two PMs are to address a joint press briefing.

On April 3, PM Oli is scheduled to hold talks with distinguished members of the Thai business-industry community and address a function at the Asian Institute of Technology.

In the evening, PM Oli is scheduled to attend a dinner hosted for leaders of BIMSTEC member-states.

On April 4, PM Oli will take part in the BIMSTEC summit and attend the Maritime Transport Cooperation Agreement signing ceremony.

First lady Radhika Shakya, Minister for Foreign Affairs Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, Secretary at the foreign ministry Amrit Bahadur Rai, PM’s principal political adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal, economic development adviser Yuvraj Khatiwada, PM’s physician Divya Singh Shah, principal personal secretary Rajesh Bajracharya, security personnel media persons and representatives of the private sector are part of the entourage.
