The Government of India has signed an agreement to support 10 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) in Nepal. These projects will focus on education, health and culture.

The agreement (MoU) was signed by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal’s Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and project implementation agencies of the Nepal government. The total cost of these projects is NPR 6.25 billion, funded by India.

According to the Indian Embassy, these projects will be implemented through Nepal’s local governments, including metropolitan cities, sub-metropolitan cities, municipalities and rural municipalities. The aim is to improve education, healthcare, and cultural facilities for the people of Nepal.

Since 2003, India has supported over 573 such projects in Nepal. Out of these, 495 projects in various sectors like education, healthcare, roads, bridges, drinking water, irrigation, electrification, and social welfare have been completed across all seven provinces. The remaining projects are in different stages of implementation.
