The Kathmandu district court has extended the custody of 41 arrestees, including leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Dhawal Shumsher Rana and Rabindra Mishra, for a further investigation into the violent incidents that occurred during a protest of pro-royalist forces in Kathmandu on March 28.

Two people died and scores sustained injuries and properties were damaged  in the course of the protest that took a violent turn.

The court extended the custody of 41 arrestees for six more days after police produced them before a bench in response to a court order after the expiry of a five-day custody.

On Sunday, the court had granted police the permission to keep the 41 accused in custody for five days—30 for criminal activities and organized crime, and 11 for offenses against the state.
