From Gaza to Yemen, Peace Remains Elusive for Mideast

The Mideast continues to be far away from peace, what with intensified Israeli operations in Gaza and US operations against the Houthis in Yemen.
Several more people have died in Israeli attacks on Gaza overnight after medical sources said at least 77 Palestinians had died in strikes since dawn on Wednesday, Al Jazeera said amid reports of intensified Israeli operations to expand its buffer zone in the restive region and increasing US military strikes in Yemen against the Houthi rebels.   
Meanwhile, Israel has received widespread condemnation, including from the UN, for a missile strike on an UNRWA medical facility in the Jabalia refugee camp that killed at least 22 people, including women and children. Israel’s military has confirmed carrying out new attacks on Syria’s Damascus, Hama and Homs Governorates.
Two rockets were fired from Gaza as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his forces are “seizing territory” to dissect the Gaza Strip.
Gaza’s Health Ministry says at least 50,423 Palestinians are confirmed dead and 114,638 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza that began after the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, attacks that killed 1,139 people with more than 200 were taken captive.
Al Jazeera TV reported that the latest Gaza operations were meant to expand the so-called buffer zone, which is an area adjacent to the eastern part of the Gaza Strip with the borders with Israel. 
 
And in Rafa, it said, Israel has destroyed the vast majority of what's left of residential buildings in order to control these territories.  
 
 
Many Israeli officials believe that it’s a golden opportunity to redraw Gaza’s borders permanently, and others see that it might be the beginning for the implementation of the mass displacement plans by the Israeli military to relocate Palestinians to neighbouring countries, including Egypt.
The Israeli military has forced displacement orders for families who are right now moving to the designated safe-zone at al-Mawasi.
In Rafa city, more than 50,000 Palestinians have found themselves right now on the move again, it said, nothing that this is the first time the Israeli military openly admitted that the goal of these ongoing ground operations is not just to eliminate Hamas’ operations and the military infrastructure, but it’s related to regaining control over specific territories in Gaza.
 

Defence  News, citing multiple congressional aides, reported that the US military has deployed more of its most advanced fighter jets to the Middle East as it continues to strike Yemen’s Houthi rebels, an Iran-backed terrorist group attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth dispatched the extra air wing of F-35 fighters to Jordan, a close partner in the region but one publicly shy about hosting American military equipment, according to one aide, who, like others, was granted anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter.

The fifth-generation F-35A is the Air Force’s premier fighter, which includes stealth capabilities and advanced sensors and can carry a variety of air-to-air and air-to-ground guided weaponry.

The Pentagon previously surged the fighters to the Middle East amid the conflict in Gaza, while trying to contain a full regional war. While there, the fighters conducted airstrikes against the Houthis during the Biden administration’s campaign to reopen shipping lanes.
Meanwhile, the Houthi-owned Al Masirah television reported that US forces delivered a series of strikes on a Houthi military base in the northwestern Yemeni province of Sa’dah. 

According to the report, at least 15 strikes were delivered at various targets near the region’s administrative center bearing the same name.
Also, one US strike targeted a vehicle in the Sana province. It was not disclosed who was inside it.
