Widespread monsoon activity is bringing unstable weather across Nepal, with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology warning of possible disruptions in several provinces. The latest forecast shows that monsoon winds are now active in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and eastern Lumbini, while westerly and local winds continue to influence weather in the western regions. Cloudy skies have settled over much of the country, with rainfall already reported in multiple locations. Gandaki Province has seen some of the heaviest showers, while areas of Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim have also experienced downpours, along with lightning and thunder.
More rain is on the way, especially in the hills. This afternoon, scattered rain is likely in many hilly areas, particularly in Koshi and Madhesh provinces. Isolated spots in other provinces may also see light to moderate rainfall. A few places in the higher elevations of Koshi could receive heavy rain, while snowfall or light showers are possible in mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki.
Looking ahead to the night, conditions remain concerning. Widespread rain, some of it heavy to very heavy, is expected across Koshi and Madhesh, with additional rainfall in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim. The Department has urged the public to remain cautious, warning that the ongoing weather could impact transportation, agriculture, health services, and everyday life, particularly in the more vulnerable hilly and mountainous regions.
