The filing of candidate nominations for the House of Representatives election on March 5 has been completed across Nepal. Political parties and independent candidates submitted their nominations actively within the given deadline on Tuesday.

 

Election Commission Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut said that a total of 2,925 candidates registered under the first-past-the-post system. Out of these, 336 candidates (11%) are women, and 2,589 candidates (88%) are men.

 

According to the Election Commission, Rupandehi Constituency No. 2 and No. 3 had the highest number of candidates, with 35 each, while Mustang had the fewest, with only eight candidates.

 

The commission also reported that 85 candidates are persons with disabilities, and 138 candidates come from marginalized areas.

 

The election process will continue as scheduled. Complaints against candidates can be submitted on January 21 from 10 am to 3 pm. The commission will review nomination papers and complaints from 3 pm on January 21 to 5 pm on January 22. The final list of candidates will be published on January 22 between 5 pm and 7 pm.

 

A total of 18,903,689 voters are registered nationwide. The Election Commission has set up 10,967 polling stations and 23,112 polling centers across the country.
