Nepal Communist Party (UML) Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that those who burn public property will be brought under the law.
On Wednesday, during his visit to his home district Jhapa to observe structures damaged by arson and vandalism amid the Gen-Z movement, Chairman Oli emphasized that those who burn public property, municipal buildings, or the houses of political activists are guilty under the law. He stressed that criminal activities must be punished and that crimes should not be encouraged. His message highlighted the need to prevent crime and create a peaceful, livable country.
He said, “Burning national property, public property, municipal buildings, or the houses and offices of political activists is criminal activity. Crimes cannot be encouraged. Crimes must be stopped. We must stop crime and build a peaceful, livable country. Perpetrators must be brought under legal action. Is it acceptable to burn someone else’s house and leave it? Perhaps the current government belongs to them, which is why it has protected them.”
He also mentioned that the interim government has not taken action against criminals because it is run by those responsible for the destruction. Chairman Oli visited Jhapa on Monday to file his nomination for the upcoming House of Representatives election and submitted his nomination from Jhapa-5 to contest in the upcoming polls.
