Marking a step toward stronger governance and tighter immigration oversight, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Thursday said the government is preparing for elections with a clear focus on good governance, rule of law and a corruption-free administration.
Speaking at the launch of the Foreign National Management Information System (FNMIS), Aryal stressed that free and fair elections depend on the responsible role of all stakeholders.
He said the new system will help improve security, prevent crimes involving foreign nationals and support tourism promotion.
Immigration Department Director General Ramchandra Tiwari said the system will make the entry, exit and stay of foreign nationals more effective, while also enhancing visitor safety, disaster response and criminal investigations.
The system will first be implemented in star-rated hotels in the Kathmandu Valley and later expanded nationwide.
