Out of the 64 political parties that submitted their closed lists for the proportional representation system in the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election, only 22 parties have nominated candidates for all 110 seats.

According to the Election Commission (EC), these parties submitted their closed lists on December 28 and 29. EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that although 64 parties submitted lists, only 58 parties registered candidates using 58 different election symbols.

The parties that have nominated candidates for all 110 proportional representation seats include: Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, Mongol National Organization, Democratic Socialist Party, CPN (ML), Labor Culture Party, Federal Democratic National Forum, Nepal Sadbhavana Party, Janamat Party, Miteri Party Nepal, and Nepal Communist Party (Unified).

In addition, parties such as Nepali Janata Dal, National Democratic Party, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), and Progressive Democratic Party have also submitted closed lists for all 110 seats by forming alliances and combining their lists.

The election for members of the House of Representatives will be held on March 5. Parties submitted their candidate lists based on the inclusive group percentages set by the 2021 national census. Since some parties decided to unite or cooperate with others, the process of submitting closed lists continued until late at night.

Although 93 political parties had applied to the Election Commission to take part in the proportional representation system, only 64 parties finally submitted their candidate lists.
