Traffic has slowed in the Daunne area of the under-construction Narayanghat–Butwal road after a cold wave made the road surface slippery.
The Road Department’s Project Directorate said the sudden drop in temperature over the past few days has caused problems on the construction section. Ongoing work on culverts and slopes at several points has made movement more difficult. In some places, vehicles are being allowed to pass in only one direction at a time, increasing the chance of traffic disruption.
The project office has asked travelers to check the latest road updates before using this road. It also warned that traffic could be completely blocked for short periods if the situation gets worse.
As an alternative, vehicles using the East–West Highway can travel to Butwal via Narayanghat–Mugling–Pokhara–Syangja–Palpa. Similarly, vehicles traveling between Kathmandu and Bardaghat West or Butwal are advised to use the Kathmandu–Mugling–Pokhara route until conditions improve.
