Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Tuesday asked Durga Prasai to express his demands and complaints only through peaceful and lawful ways.

The request was made during a meeting at Baluwatar, where the prime minister said the country can no longer afford unrest and instability. She stressed that in a democracy, issues should be resolved by gaining public support through elections.

“The country has gone through many difficult times and has now returned to peace and order,” Karki said. “As we are preparing for elections, all sides must act responsibly. We should remember that this country belongs to all of us.”

During the meeting, Karki also gave Prasai a portrait of Lord Gautam Buddha as a symbol of peace and harmony.

She said the government is committed to justice and not driven by power or personal benefit. “We have started steps to end corruption and ensure justice for the oppressed and marginalized. These changes take time, and results will not be seen immediately, but the groundwork is being done carefully,” she said.

The prime minister added that the government is addressing several genuine concerns raised by Prasai and will continue talks with him in the future.
