The Election Commission has set campaign spending limits for candidates contesting the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026, with ceilings varying by constituency.

 

According to the Commission, candidates from five Kathmandu constituencies Kathmandu-1, 3, 6, 7 and 8, can spend up to Rs 2.5 million. A limit of Rs 2.7 million has been fixed for candidates in 17 constituencies, while 65 constituencies will have a spending cap of Rs 2.9 million.

 

Similarly, candidates in 52 constituencies are allowed to spend up to Rs 3.1 million, and those in 26 constituencies up to Rs 3.3 million, said EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.

 

All candidates must open a separate bank account for campaign expenses and conduct all election-related transactions through it. They are also required to submit a detailed expense report to the Election Office within 35 days of the official election results.
