As talks of leftist unity gain momentum, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) has called a Central Committee meeting in Kathmandu on October 29 to deliberate on its next political steps.

The meeting will primarily focus on advancing unification discussions with other leftist, communist, and socialist forces, alongside addressing internal ideological differences and organizational restructuring.

Deputy Chief of the Publicity Department, Damodar Aryal, said the gathering aims to conclude ongoing unification talks swiftly and to define the ideological foundation and power-sharing model of a potential unified party.

He added that many leaders believe groundwork for broader leftist polarisation must be completed before any merger among communist factions takes place.

The meeting is also expected to outline the party’s position on the upcoming House of Representatives elections, calling for active involvement of all party committees to ensure fair and fearless voting.

Additionally, the party will discuss building cooperation among republican and constitution-supporting forces to safeguard the constitution and political stability.

The discussion comes at a time when CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has publicly invited the Unified Socialist and its Socialist Front allies to merge with the UML, adding new urgency to the leftist unification debate.
