Nepal will take on Iran today in the Tri-Nation Friendly Football Tournament being held in Shillong, India. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:15 p.m. Nepali time at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
A 23-member Nepali squad, led by head coach Nabin Neupane, arrived in India on Wednesday to participate in the tournament. This will be Nepal’s first match of the event.
In the opening game earlier this week, Iran defeated host nation India 2–0 and currently leads the table with three points. The Iranian side will be looking to extend its unbeaten run, while Nepal aims to make a strong start to the competition.
The tournament trophy was unveiled on Thursday. Each team will play two matches, and the team finishing at the top of the points table will be declared the champion.
