Three young girls, including twin sisters, drowned while bathing in a canal in Kailali’s Janaki Rural Municipality, according to police.

A heartbreaking incident in Kailali has claimed the lives of three young girls, including twin sisters, who drowned while bathing in the Kulriya Canal under the Rani Jamara Kulariya Irrigation Project.
According to DSP Prakash Dangi of the Area Police Office, Tikapur, the victims were identified as Nisha and Manushi Bajgain, twin sisters from Tikapur Municipality-1, and Sulochana Timilsina from Janaki Rural Municipality-5, Gujaruwa.
The girls, aged around 10 to 11, were bathing in the canal when they were swept away by the current. Nisha and Manushi were fifth graders at Janajagruti Secondary School in Sitapur, while Sulochana studied in grade four at Saraswati Secondary School, Durgouli.
Police said the twins had gone to visit relatives when the incident occurred. The bodies have been recovered and sent to Tikapur Hospital for post-mortem examination.
