A lawmaker from the ruling CPN-UML party has called for the resignation of Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Rajkumar Gupta after an audio recording surfaced, allegedly linking him to a bribery deal.
Speaking in the House of Representatives on Monday, UML Member of Parliament Kiran Kumar Sah criticized the government for staying silent despite growing public anger over the leaked audio.
“Mr. Speaker, I have a serious question: why is the government quiet when Minister Rajkumar Gupta has been caught discussing a bribe?” Sah said. “Everyone in the country has heard the audio, but the government is acting like nothing happened. This goes against the spirit of democracy.”
Sah said the issue is about public trust and demanded that Gupta be removed from his position immediately. He also called for a fair and independent investigation into the matter.
The audio clip, which has gone viral on social media, allegedly captures a conversation between Minister Gupta and a middleman about a bribe related to a land appointment. The controversy has triggered criticism from all sides and increased pressure on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to respond.
