Press Council Nepal has appealed to journalists and media outlets to follow the journalistic code of conduct. In a recent board meeting, the Council also called for the responsible use of press freedom.
The Council said it will provide training and orientation to journalists and media as needed. The meeting also decided to regulate journalism on digital platforms, including YouTube. The Council made it clear that it will not support any action from anywhere that goes against press freedom, as guaranteed by the Constitution.
The meeting also decided to push forward with the long-pending amendments to its operating rules, financial regulations, and staff regulations. It aims to strengthen the Council and ensure that future decisions are made in a unified and transparent manner.
