Two people died and 34 others were hurt in a bus accident in Bakhariya, Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City-13.
The people who died were 65-year-old Narayan Bhandari and 25-year-old Shanta Khadka Chaudhary. Both were from Dangisharan Rural Municipality-2, according to Police Inspector Surya Bahadur Rana from the Tulsipur Area Police Office.
The crash happened when a passenger bus (Na 4 Kha 4009) traveling from Goltakuri to Tulsipur on the Tulsipur-Amaliya road collided with an empty school bus (Ra 1 Ka 870) from Gyanjyoti Boarding School, which was going toward Bakhariya from Tulsipur.
Inspector Rana said that four people were seriously injured, 15 had moderate injuries, and the rest had minor injuries.
All injured people are being treated at Rapti Provincial Hospital in Tulsipur. Most of the passengers are believed to be from the same village.
After the accident, a rescue team of three officers led by Deputy Inspector Pareshwar Dangi from the Damargaun Police Office, and another team of 12 led by Inspector Rana from the Tulsipur Police Office, reached the scene.
Police said the passenger bus went about five meters off the road and overturned after the crash. Both drivers have been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.
