CIAA Files Corruption Case Against Nepal Telecom Chief and 17 Others

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 18 people, including Sangita Pahadi, the Managing Director of Nepal Telecom (NT).

The case was filed at the Special Court. The CIAA says there were serious problems in how Nepal Telecom handled its billing system, maintenance costs, and other areas. Because of these issues, the government lost about Rs 330 million.

As part of the investigation, the CIAA also took statements from former Chief Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, about 30 employees (including two joint secretaries), and members of Nepal Telecom’s Board of Directors.
