Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli visited the Tribhuvan University cricket ground in Kirtipur today to check on the construction of new seating stands (parapets) and floodlights being built to meet international standards.

This visit comes about a year after Oli made this project one of his top priorities. On July 15, shortly after taking office, he had promised that the work would be finished within 300 days.

During his visit, the Prime Minister was joined by Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, Urban Development Ministry Secretary Gopal Prasad Sigdel, and other top officials, including Project Chief Chakrabarti Kantha. Contractors working on the project updated Oli on the progress so far.

Earlier, on May 5, Oli had called the contractors and government officials to his office at Singha Durbar to check on the project’s status. He told them to finish everything within the next two months.

Separate contracts for building the stands and installing the floodlights were signed in early January — on January 3 and January 6 — with two different companies.
