Teacher Dies, Driver Injured in Taplejung Road Accident

A woman died and another person was injured in a road accident in Phawakhola, Taplejung on Sunday.

According to Bambahadur Bhattarai, former Deputy Mayor of Phungling Municipality, the woman who died was Bhawana BK. She was a teacher at Saraswati Secondary School in Sikaicha, located in Sirijanga Rural Municipality-3.

The accident happened when the vehicle, traveling from Phungling to Sikaicha, went off the road at Banpala in the former Ward 6 of Phawakhola. It fell about 100 meters down a slope.

The driver, Sabin Bista from Phawakhola, was injured in the crash. Bhattarai mentioned that all other passengers had already gotten off the vehicle before the accident. At the time of the crash, only Bhawana BK was still inside.

Inspector Bivek Basnet from the District Police Office in Taplejung said that police were sent to the scene as soon as they got the report. More information is expected to come later.
