The House of Representatives was once again disrupted on Thursday. Opposition lawmakers protested, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and a parliamentary committee to investigate the visit visa scandal.
As the session started, opposition MPs stood up and shouted slogans. They refused to let the meeting move forward. Some ruling party members asked for a chance to speak, but the chaos continued.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire asked all members to cooperate. He warned that important laws were being delayed, which was hurting federalism. “People are saying federalism isn’t working well because Parliament isn’t passing needed laws,” he said.
He asked lawmakers to focus on important government bills. But since the protest didn’t stop, the Speaker canceled all planned business and postponed the meeting until 1 PM on Friday.
