Law Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Sobita Gautam has emphasized that this time the Parliament must go beyond the traditional boundaries of government and opposition.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday as a supporter of Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, she highlighted that the mix of newly energized MPs and senior lawmakers with long parliamentary experience should be used to make the Parliament more mature and effective.

She said, “This Parliament must rise above the typical government-opposition divide. It should focus on the people’s issues, be solution-oriented, and produce clear results. With the presence of both newly energized MPs and senior parliamentarians, we must work together to make this Parliament more mature.”

She also stressed the need for healthy debates, warning that if discussions remain limited to mere arguments, public trust will weaken.

“Democracy is not brought about by speeches and debates alone. It is the outcomes of our debates that truly matter. Therefore, healthy debates are essential. If debates remain mere arguments, public trust will erode. This time, debates must be meaningful, accountable, and result-oriented,” she added.
