A landslide has completely damaged the Raudigad Micro Hydropower Project located in Gaumul Rural Municipality–3 of Bajura.

The landslide, triggered after winter rainfall, fell from above the powerhouse, causing significant destruction. According to Bhakta Bik, secretary of the users’ committee, the landslide not only damaged the powerhouse but also swept away the canal.

With the infrastructure destroyed, electricity production has come to a complete halt. The project, completed on April 7, 2013 (Chaitra 25, 2069 BS), had been supplying electricity to around 350 households, all of which are now affected.

Ward Chairperson Gorakh Bohara said that immediate coordination will be carried out with local, provincial, and federal governments to restore services as soon as possible. He emphasized efforts to resume electricity supply through urgent collaboration.

Staff member Bhim Bahadur Rokaya stated that both the structure and equipment have been damaged due to the disaster. He added that requests have been made to concerned authorities for immediate repair and reconstruction.

Bajura frequently suffers heavy losses from floods and landslides every year. Many settlements across all nine local units are at high risk, with around 135 villages currently vulnerable. The early occurrence of landslides this season has also heightened fear among locals.
