The committee responsible for recommending names for Nepal’s Commission for Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Nepal’s transitional justice bodies has asked the public to give their suggestions on the selection of officials for the two commissions.
In a meeting held on Friday, the committee decided to gather public feedback on a draft plan governing the selection of chairpersons and members of the Commission for the Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Committee Spokesperson Lily Thapa said the goal is to make the process more open and involve more people.
The draft document, titled Selection Process for the Recommendation of the Names of the Chairpersons and Members of the Commissions, 2025, is now available on the official websites of both commissions. One can send feedback on the draft at infolaw@moljpa.gov.np, trcbabarmahal@gmail.com, ciednepal@gmail.com not later than April 8. It’s also posted on the notice board of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
