Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has pledged an impartial investigation into the incidents of vandalism, arson, injuries and deaths that occurred during the protest of pro-royalist forces in Tinkune and Koteshwor on March 28.
PM Oli was talking to journalists after returning from his visit to Bangkok (April 1-5) where he took part in the sixth BIMSTEC Summit and held sideline meetings with leaders of BIMSTEC member-states.
There is no need for a judicial investigation in every incident, he said: There may or may not be a judicial investigation into the March 28 incidents. We will think about it…. whether to conduct an impartial probe or a judicial probe.
More than 100 security personnel and 54 protesters have sustained injuries in clashes between security personnel and protesters. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 18 houses were vandalized and torched, and 39 vehicles damaged in the incidents.
Police have filed cases against 78 scores of people arrested for a probe into the March 28 incidents that also caused the death of two people in suspicious circumstances.
