Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Tuesday reviewed the progress of efforts to reclaim encroached and misappropriated land belonging to Tribhuvan University (TU). The meeting, held at Singha Durbar, brought together relevant ministers and TU officials to discuss speeding up land recovery and taking action against those responsible.

Present at the discussion were Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Education Minister Mahavir Pun, Communications Minister Jagdish Kharel, along with TU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deepak Aryal, Rector Prof. Khadga KC, Registrar Prof. Kedar Prasad Rizal, Chief Secretary Ekanarayan Aryal, and officials from the land investigation committee.

PM Karki expressed dissatisfaction over delays in implementing the committee’s recommendations on encroached land and requested a detailed progress report.

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal emphasized that TU must take initiative in preparing cost assessments and file complaints with the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police for every case of illegally occupied land. He noted that the CIB has the necessary expertise and the government is ready to support enforcement actions.

Concluding the meeting, PM Karki warned that anyone involved in the encroachment, misappropriation, or illegal sale of TU land would face strict legal action, underscoring the government’s commitment to reclaim university property and hold offenders accountable.
