Today’s House of Representatives meeting was postponed today until 1 PM Wednesday after political parties failed to reach an agreement on the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. The opposition is demanding his resignation over the recent visit visa controversy, saying it’s necessary for a fair investigation.
Although Speaker Devraj Ghimire held two rounds of talks with leaders from both sides, no consensus was reached. The meeting, initially set for 11 AM, was delayed to 2 PM and then adjourned completely.
The opposition has put forward three demands: the formation of a high-level probe committee to investigate the visa issue from 2064 BS to the present, the Home Minister’s resignation to avoid interference, and a clear address from the Prime Minister in Parliament taking responsibility.
With no progress, Parliament remains in a deadlock.
