The House of Representatives couldn’t move forward on Thursday as opposition lawmakers continued their protest, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over the ongoing visit visa scandal.

The meeting, originally set for 1 PM, was pushed to 5:30 PM, but it still didn’t happen. Speaker Devraj Ghimire finally called off the session, cancelling all planned discussions. He announced that the next meeting will take place on Friday at 1 PM.

As soon as the meeting began, opposition MPs stood up and started chanting slogans. Speaker Ghimire tried to calm things down by offering speaking time for each party, but the protests continued.

Opposition parties argue that Minister Lekhak should step down on moral grounds due to the visa controversy. However, the ruling parties, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, believe he should be allowed to explain himself in Parliament first, before making any decisions.
