The Special Court will hear the corruption case against former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal today before Judges Narayan Prasad Poudel and Dilliratan Shrestha.
The case concerns irregularities in land acquired for Patanjali’s Ayurvedic University. Nepal and 93 others were named in the complaint filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). In 2066 BS, the Nepal-led cabinet approved the purchase of 815 ropani of land in Kavre for the project.
Subsequently, Patanjali bought over 593 ropani in Sanga, Nasikasthan, and Mahendra Jyoti areas. Later, 353 ropani 15 aana of land was sold to Kasthamandap Business Homes Pvt. Ltd., bypassing land regulations. A government investigative report confirmed that the land was misused instead of being used for industrial operations by Patanjali Yoga Peeth, led by Indian yoga guru Ramdev.
The hearing marks a significant development in this high-profile corruption case.
