Westerly System Brings Rain and Snowfall Chances in Nepal’s Hilly and Mountain Regions

Currently, Nepal is experiencing the partial influence of westerly winds and a low-pressure system in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region of the country.

At present, the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and Koshi Province are generally cloudy, while the hilly and mountainous areas of the remaining provinces are partly cloudy. Some places in the hilly areas of Gandaki Province and a few places in the Terai region of Bagmati Province are experiencing moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.

During the daytime today, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province and Sudurpashchim Province, as well as other hilly and mountainous areas, are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the areas will be partly cloudy. There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning and snowfall at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Province, as well as at isolated places in the Terai of Koshi Province and the hilly areas of Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province.

Similarly, tonight the mountainous regions of the country will remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the areas will be partly cloudy. There is also a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning and snowfall at a few places in the mountainous areas and at isolated locations in the hilly regions.
