US President Donald Trump announced on Friday via social media platform Truth Social that all military targets on Kharg Island in Iran had been “completely destroyed.”

He stated, “A short while ago, under my direction, the US Central Command carried out one of the most powerful strikes in Middle Eastern history, and all military targets on Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island, have been fully destroyed.”

Trump added that he had decided not to target the oil infrastructure on the island. However, he warned that if Iran or any other party interferes with the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, he would reconsider this decision immediately.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson from Iran’s Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a warning on Saturday, stating that any attack on energy infrastructure or ports, no matter how small, will be met with a severe and devastating response.

They further warned that such an attack would lead to the destruction of all regional oil and gas infrastructure, including facilities in which the US and its Western allies have stakes.

Kharg Island, located approximately 24 km off Iran’s coast, serves as the terminal for 90% of the country’s oil exports.

Analysts predict that this incident could escalate regional tensions and raise concerns about the security of international maritime routes.
