Rachana Khatiwada, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has urged the government to immediately withdraw what she described as false cases filed against youths involved in the Gen Z movement.

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Monday, Khatiwada said the current government came to power on the strength of the sacrifices and struggles of the movement’s participants, but is now issuing arrest warrants against some of the same youths.

She alleged that innocent young people are being implicated in false cases and claimed that such incidents have increased in Panauti, Kavrepalanchok, following the appointment of a new police chief.

Khatiwada questioned why the government has failed to fulfill its commitment to withdraw such cases and warned that political stability cannot be sustained without the support and trust of young people.

She called on the government to promptly dismiss all cases related to the Gen Z movement that she said were unjustly filed against its participants.
