Nepal and India have reached a seven-point agreement to boost electricity exchange and expand cross-border transmission networks during a two-day technical meeting held in Pokhara on November 3–4.

The meeting, co-chaired by Nepal’s Joint Secretary Sandeep Kumar Dev and India’s Chief Engineer Bhagwan Sahay Bairwa, focused on key projects, including the Chamelia–Jauljibi 220 kV and Butwal–Gorakhpur 400 kV lines.

Once completed, Nepal will be able to export up to 1,500 MW and import up to 1,400 MW of power through upgraded systems using HTLS technology. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening regional energy cooperation.
