Ramkumari Jhankri, a senior leader of the Unified Socialist Party, announced her departure from the party, saying her political journey with the group has ended following its merger with the CPN (Maoist Centre).

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu, Jhankri clarified that she and other leaders, including Kisan Shrestha, had raised objections to the unification decision led by Madhav Kumar Nepal. She said, “We joined the Unified Socialist with hopes of running a strong campaign, but that journey has now concluded. Our association with the party ended with its dissolution.”

Jhankri added that when a path becomes blocked, one must pause, reassess, and find a suitable route forward. Meanwhile, Kisan Shrestha stated that he and others are ready to return to the UML unconditionally, seeking only respectful treatment in their original party.
