Nepal Communist Party Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the alternative to the republic is a more advanced and inclusive republic.
Issuing a message on the occasion of Republic Day–2083, Prachanda stated that the federal democratic republic is a historic achievement gained through the long struggle, sacrifice, and dedication of thousands of martyrs and the Nepali people.
He said, “The federal democratic republic guaranteed by Nepal’s Constitution is a historic achievement earned through the long struggle, sacrifice, and dedication of thousands of martyrs across different periods of history. This system does not belong to any individual or political party, but is a shared achievement of all Nepalis who aspired for change.”
He stated that no one has the right to retreat from the core spirit of the Constitution or compromise on its values, principles, and achievements.
Prachanda added, “Correcting the weaknesses seen in the implementation of the Constitution and ending the traditional practices and arbitrariness that still exist in state governance are today’s necessities. Strengthening people’s rights, democratic values, and inclusiveness is the true respect toward the republic.”
Stating that “the alternative to the republic is a more advanced republic,” he emphasized the need to ensure an inclusive and fully proportional system. He also stressed strengthening the rights of neglected and marginalized communities, classes, and regions.
Prachanda said unity among political forces and citizens is necessary for political stability, good governance, social justice, and economic prosperity. He added that building a socialist Nepal through prosperity with social justice is a shared national commitment.
“We may have political differences, and parliamentary arithmetic may vary, but dialogue and cooperation on issues of national concern should become our political culture. Protecting the Constitution, democracy, and the republic is our collective responsibility,” he said.
He also urged everyone to remain alert against any attempt to weaken the achievements of political change and called for unity in building a prosperous, just, and self-reliant Nepal.
