The National Examination Board has urged protesting teachers to assist in the checking of answer sheets and the management of examinations.
The appeal comes as the delay in checking the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) answer sheets may directly affect students opportunities that follow the release of their results.
Teachers, who have been staging protests centered in Kathmandu since March 20, have warned they will not participate in the evaluation of SEE answer sheets unless their demands are fulfilled.
The Board emphasized the crucial role of teachers not only in answer sheet evaluation but also in the overall management of the examinations.
Stating that the professional advancement and security of teachers, as well as the needs and opportunities of students, are both primary and sensitive matters, the Board urged teachers to consider their responsibilities along with their demands and appeals, and act in the interest of students’ futures.
However, the teachers remain firm in their stance, saying the protest will continue until their demands are met. They have called for the implementation of previous agreements and the enactment of the Education Act.
