Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav has accused Indian officials of fueling political unrest and protests in the province. Speaking in Janakpur on Saturday, Yadav claimed that representatives from the Indian consulate in Birgunj have been directly interacting with local political groups, threatening and manipulating parties to create instability.
Yadav also revealed that he faces personal security threats, with intelligence reports advising him to limit public appearances and remain cautious. Despite protection from Nepal Police, Armed Police, and the Army, the Chief Minister said the ongoing unrest poses risks to himself, other political leaders, and party supporters.
He urged protestors and political parties to resolve grievances through dialogue, emphasizing that external pressure has hindered negotiations. Yadav warned that attacks on him could also endanger his supporters, highlighting the sensitive security situation in the province.
The Chief Minister stressed that his government was constitutionally formed and called for calm, while criticizing foreign interference for exacerbating political tensions in Madhesh.
